What?
Following on from success in 2017, we are carrying out a repeat survey of otter activity in the Birmingham & Black Country canals this February, and we’d love you to be part of it!

There is a lot of canals to cover so we’re looking for as many volunteers as possible. Anyone can get involved – the survey is very easy and involves walking along a short (a few km) section of the canal, recording any otter signs on a survey form that we will provide. Don’t worry if you don’t have any experience as we have information/training sessions available to teach you everything you need to know. Training details below…

When?
The main training session is:
-Sunday 21st Jan, 2-4 pm (approx, it may not take that long!).
Where?
Wildside Activity Centre, Hordern Road, Wolverhampton, WV6 0HA.

Why?
Otters are possibly the most elusive mammals in the UK, with sightings being very rare. Therefore large-scale surveys are crucial in determining where they are found and getting a general picture of population numbers.
